Web Stencil Kit by DesignCommisson

DesignCommisson has designed this website/app stencil with all the basic elements required to draft wireframes for interface designs.

The whole thing comes as a ” Web Stencil Kit ” comprising the stencil, browser sketchpads with grid and a mechanical pencil for ” hard to reach” places.

Oxite – Open source blogging platform by Microsoft

9^th December, Microsoft released their open-source blogging platform/CMS  with a name OXITE. 

After going through their weblog and screenshots, it seems like Microsoft has finally provided something with simplicity. The source code for the software is available under the Microsoft Public License.

Smiling Type{faces}

We all are pretty conversant with the typical smile emoticons we use on web, but from years and years we are watching them only in the restricted web fonts like Verdana, Georgia and so on. 

So i just did a small experiment to find out how other type “faces” smile, and some of them are really interesting !!

FileRide – Share interests with a social desktop.

FileRide is a social networking tool with a completely different approach.  Its a kind of social desktop where you can globally expose your multimedia files, documents, links  with the people of same interests.

e-DONOR – a campaign to encourage e-cycling.

e-DONOR (e-do-ner, – nor) n.
One that donate , contributes their electronic waste to a higher good.
One that curbs needless electronic energy consumption.
One that beliefs and serves the afterlife of their technology.

E-Donor is an initiative by HP and MTV to create awareness about electronic waste and its consequences. The site has a lot of interesting videos, facts to convey the message of e-CYCLING.

Hover.in – Site Design

Hover.in is an in-text “customized content” and “customized ad” delivery platform for web sites and blogs. It enables web publishers to link and monetize keywords/ phrases with-in their existing content.

Few weeks back i came in touch with the C.E.O – Arun Prabhudesai, and got the responsibility for hover.in website redesign, admin panel ( dashboard design ) and the look and feel of linking window ( Hoverlet ).

So, finally i got some reason to go away from web and work and in that going-away process i have moved to Bhraptpur Junction ( my hometown ) these days for a great diwali vacation.

We always have a mind-set of not using comic-sans and it seems to be worst when it comes to web. Go have a look at the thebackofthenapkin webpage designed by OHmedia, it will definitely make you think for a while.

Tending to be Digital

Now, when all the devices around us are shouting to be digital, automated and look high-tech, this weighing machine in image above also doesn’t want to remain like a regular LED display device. But this time the approach is really different and pretty interesting too.

em unit and CSS

Till now, i was using pixel as a type measurement unit for WebPages. Recently I gone through some web typography articles and now I am planning to move on to “em”. Just trying to explore it more and do conformations with this post.

EM is a relative unit rather than absolute, hence it can’t be defined for a specific typeface, its same for all fonts at a given point size. So, if user is using 12 point for running text as its default browser font-size, 1em is equal to 12 pt, 2em (may be for headlines) will be 24 and so on.

BENQ S6 – Another mobile internet device.

I don’t have any plans (and cash) to buy a new multimedia 3G enabled phone, but these days I am just trying to understand the whole 3G stock in market. Recently while browsing through Google, I landed up at Benq website and found their new device called BENQ S6. After reading its specifications it sounds almost like a desktop machine.

Not so much of web work to do these days, so i just tried to make myself busy in polishing of some old sketches. These two guys called “Montu” (left) and “Babloo” (right) were sketched during one of my CSS coding classes last year. Those after breakfast monday morning classes didn’t helped me so much to blast in the industry but these guys are still a great stress-buster in free time.
